Zencinitas ArtWorks is an outdoor home gallery for Fused Glass and Encaustic art. Both of these art forms require heat to get the desired result.

Specialty glass is cut, assembled and fused in a kiln, up to 1500 degrees. The final product is a collaboration of intense heat and my composition. It integrates color, depth and movement that still surprises me after 15 years of working with this medium.

Encaustics, a hot wax process, has its own magic. Layers of molten bees’ wax are painted on a surface and bonded together with a torch. The process repeats by applying layers of color, burning them in and scraping at the wax surface, revealing a world of texture and depth. I discovered this craft only 4 years ago, in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, and immediately felt I was reacquainting with an old friend.

The fused glass pieces are designed for both outdoor and indoor use. Encaustics are primarily for inside spaces, although they can be displayed outdoors, just out of direct sun.
